BOHEMIAN CHIC

BOHEMIAN CHIC

"She was born to be free, let her run wild in her own way and you will never lose her." - Nikki Rowe

1970's Bohemian Chic for Fall 2015

Effortless but luxurious, easy but spirited, modern but with a definite retro twist, the bohemian aesthetic goes back to its roots for fall 2015, drawing from the 1970's woman. Keeping some of spring’s impossible romance, fall’s boho chic is all about luxe silhouettes and rich fabrics, long sleeved maxi dresses, shearling jackets and vests, lush velvets and about all-over prints and lavish layers, about earthy shades and charming folk motifs.

MONDAY MUSE: JANE BIRKIN

MONDAY MUSE: JANE BIRKIN

"Keep smiling - it takes 10 years off!" - Jane Birkin

Jane Birkin, has inspired many great stylists (Hermes’ renowned Birkin bag is named after the British actress), as well as legions of women (me included) with her free spirit and smoldering yet innocent beauty. Laissez-faire. Breezy Bohemian. Sex kitten. All phrases to describe today's muse. Her free spirited bohemian style consisting of slightly sheer blouses, high wasted and flare jeans, loose fitting tops and short hemlines, long delicate gold necklaces, and the wicker basket, she used as a handbag, are the key to Birkin's carefree look. Her look goes down in history as one of the most inspiring and definitely one of my favorites.

Get inspired and have an amazing week! :)

FESTIVAL BOUND: SILVES MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL GETAWAY: SILVES MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL

One of my favorite festivals to visit takes place in the beautiful Castle of Silves, Portugal.  Its one of Portugal's most dynamic and renowed Medieval Fairs. The festivities run for 10 days in August. Visitors take part in recreations of activities as they may have happened centuries ago when Silves was the capital of the Kingdom of the Algarve. Moorish and Christian traditions are on display throughout the grounds of the castle. You will experience music, veiled dancers, snake charmers, jugglers, acrobats, nobleman and ladies parading in their finest costumes. Amazing regional foods are available at a number of food vendors.
One of my favorite things to do is wander through the castle and check out the amazing array of bohemian products: clothing, accessories (most of them handmade and one of a kind)  and decor. I am in Boho heaven.
I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek into my beautiful home country of Portugal. Have an amazing weekend, and take time to explore your surroundings... :)
